Match Preview - New Orleans Storm vs. DC United

Who: New Orleans Storm (A-League, Central Division), vs. Nashville Metros (A-League Central Division)

What:  A-League Opener.

When: Thursday, April 2, 1998, 7:05pm CST.

Where: Zephyr Field, 6000 Airline Hwy., Metairie.

We're ready to start a second season of A-League soccer in New Orleans.  The Storm, coming off of a 2-2 draw against MLS Cup holders DC United and a 2-4 loss to MLS Cup runners-up Colorado Rapids, are ready to begin league play.

Last season, the Storm finished 5th in the Central Division, with the Metros right behind them at 6th.  The teams met three times, with the Storm winning twice.   The Metros lost last week in an exhibition match against the Atlanta Ruckus.   Both the Storm and Metros have a number of returning starters, so it should be a balanced, exciting match.

Probable starters for New Orleans:

GK
Tom Dutra

Chris Brown
D
Andrew Restrepo

Dale Edwards

Glenn Benjamin

Gabriel Gentile

Ricardo Blanchard

Tony Kuhn?

The ? at midfield is because Lester Felician, who was up with the club from Jackson for the exhibition matches, has returned to the Chargers.  (He was PDSL Player of the Week last week, and is looking good.)  We're assuming that Tony Kuhn, the man of the match against DC (2 goals), will be back after his trial with the Chicago Fire.

Today is "Thirsty Thursday" at Zephyr Field, which means $1 Miller draft before the match, and Miller is also giving out magnet schedules for your 'fridge or wherever to the first 5,000 fans.
