Stern John Signs with the Columbus Crew

Stern John (red shorts) in action with the Trinidad and Tobago national team, fighting
off MLS poster boy and NY/NJ MetroStar defender Alexi Lalas in a World Cup qualifier.
New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers forwards Stern John and Mickey Trotman will both be
playing for Major League Soccer teams in 1998. John, who was acquired by the
Gamblers after the start of the 1997 season, went on to become the team's leading scorer,
a member of the A-League's All-Star Team, and the A-League Rookie of the Year. The
Trinidad and Tobago international has already scored two goals for the Crew in pre-season
matches.
