New Orleans Weather Facts -- FallFall in New Orleans -- DescriptionI had a history professor at the Univerisity of New Orleans who used to teach at a school in New England. One day in a fall semester he came in and told us how many schools up north take an impromptu holiday on the day in the late winter/early spring when the cold weather finally breaks, and everyone can go out and around without overcoats and gloves on. Since that just doesn't happen in New Orleans, he decided to reverse the seasons and take off on the day when the heat broke. That's what Fall is all about. kids in high school get excited because they can finally wear their letterman's sweaters and senior class sweatshirts. We have so many evergreen trees in this part of the country that Fall isn't really a season of color that you find in other areas. It's a season of feel -- you feel less lethargic at three o'clock in the afternoon.
