Jimmy Moran
Moran was a popular restauranteur. He owned Moran's Riverside
in the French Market, and most recently, the Olde Absinthe House
on Bourbon Street. His signature dish was Fettucine Alfredo,
which he learned to prepare at Alfredo's in Venice.
Louis Prima
The popular crooner has the words to one of his most well-known
songs, "Just a Gigilo" carved on the tombstone.
Lawrence Fabacher
Fabacher was the owner of the Jackson Brewing Company, makers
of Jax Beer. This is the brewery that is now a shopping center
on Decatur Street by Jackson Square. In the late 60's, the brewery
ran a wonderful ad campaign where a character dressed like Andrew
Jackson rode up on a horse and insisted his name was Fabacher,
not Jackson, and that he (Fabacher) won the Battle of New Orleans!
The brewery even released a limited-run brew, Fabacher Brau,
in conjunction with that campaign.
