How to Link to Virtually New Orleans

We get daily requests to set up links to other sites from Virtually New Orleans. We're firm believers in exchanging links with other sites, particularly those that are related to New Orleans. We do have to address the reality of paying the bills, however, which is why we've established the following guidelines for reciprocal links to VNO:

Personal Home Pages

Over the last couple of years, we've got some wonderful notes from folks saying they've added us to their published bookmarks pages and such. If you let us know about this, we'll add you to our "Friends of VNO" page.

Links for Restaurants

Food and Dining are extremely important parts of Virtually New Orleans. We love to do pieces on different places, such as our top ten lists, reviews, etc. If you are a restauranteur, chef, or just a fan of a restaurant that's on the web (or would like to be on the web, for that matter), drop me a line so we can chat about the possibilities directly. Of course, if you'd just like to do the regular stuff below, by all means feel free to do so.

Non-Commercial Sites:

We ask that you give us a reciprocal link. We'll set up a link to your site in whatever category is relevant to you (schools, organizations, etc.) If you have a logo or graphic we can use for the link, let us know, and we'll include it. We'd prefer if you provide us with a HTML code snippet for the graphic, so we can do a cut-and-paste job. Check our Banners and Icons Page and choose one of our graphics to include on your page.

Once you've established the link, we'll get yours on as soon as possible.

Commercial Sites:

Consider here what you're asking of us: you've established a site on the Web that you plan on using to make a buck. Now you're asking us to promote that site at our expense. My favorite story in this regard was when we called up the Superdome. We asked them to give us time on the pylon scoreboard (that big tower with the three-sided scoreboard right outside Da Dome) in exchange for links to the Dome's website. The woman's reaction was one of total outrage: how dare we ask them to give free advertising! Please keep this in mind when asking for a link. We don't like to give things away for free. We're not adverse to in-kind trade, however. Drop us a note with your request, and please let us know what you're willing to do for a link or banner ad. We're willing to trade links if it's mutually beneficial. Please have a look at our Banners and Icons Page and see what you're willing to do and let us know.

Other Inquiries:

Please e-mail us and we'll be glad to chat!
