Jazz Fest isn't all about music, of course. There's lots of great food to be had at the Jazz Fest. This is a shot of Prejean's booth, where they serve pheasant, quail, and andouille gumbo. Now, that's the kind of thing I look for when I come to Da Fest. Crawfish Monica? Hell, I can cook that at home. CDM Beignets? In the mud at the Fair Grounds? No way. Crawfish Sushi? Can get that at just about every sushi bar in town. No, it's the unique things that make exploring the food booths exciting. Nobody does Crawfish Bread like you get at the Fest. Novelty po-boys like 'gator or softshell crab are also fun. Prejean's gumbo is also a neat dish. So are the meat pies. The idea is to grab something fairly mobile (a bowl of gumbo is easy to eat as you're moving from one stage to another), but still tastes good. I've never been to Prejean's in Lafayette, but that's because I don't often get to Lafayette these days. (I'm going regularly to Morgan City lately, but not as far as Lafayette). If the restaurant is half as good as their Fest booth, it's a heck of a place.
As usual, my only gripe with food at Da Fest is the beer situation, but we've been through that before. No need to re-hash that once again.
