The Nevilles on Video
**************************************************
This is a mix of music videos and appearances in movies. Aaron has
been the most active in getting small roles in several movies. I've
limited this list to items that are commercially available, or may
appear on television. If you know of some that are not on this list,
let me know about them!

This short (12 minute) video features two of the songs
from the "Duets" album that came out in 1988. One

My Baby (And One More For The Road)." The other has Aaron
on vocals and Rob Wasserman on bass performing an eerie
version of "Stardust."
Title : The Neville Brothers & Friends: Tell It Like It Is
Features: The Neville Brothers
Format : Video
Label : WEA
Number : R-1529
Year : 1989-90
----------- Notes ------------
This was first shown on Cinemax, and later sold as a video.
The Nevs are backed-up by Herbie Hancock, Dennis Quaid,
Bonnie Raitt and Greg Allman. Taped in a New Orleans club,
it could have been better if the "guests" weren't included.
60 minutes.
Title : Zandalee
Features: Nicolas Cage, Judge Reinhold
Format : Video
Label : ?
Number : ?
Year : 1990
----------- Notes ------------
This movie, classified as an "erotic thriller," features Aaron
in a small part. I never heard of this when it came out, so
it could have gone straight to the video rental bins, and
by-passed the theaters. My mom & step-dad caught this one
late at night on one of the cable channels and told me about
it. 100 minutes.
Title : Tune in Tomorrow
Features: Barbara Hershey, Keanu Reeves, Peter Falk
Format : Video
Label : ?
Number : ?
Year : 1990
----------- Notes ------------
Never heard of this one, but it features Art, Charles, Aaron and
Cyril playing themselves. Might have to search for it at the
video rental place. The Internet Movie Database lists it as
a "comedy, media, romance," and notes that it was also known as
"Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter."
Title : Ricochet
Features: Denzel Washington, John Lithgow
Format : Video
Label : ?
Number :
Year : 1991
----------- Notes ------------
Thanks to Mary Foster of Jonestown, Texas for this item.
Charles Neville plays the role of "Odessa's Man," and
even gets one or two lines.
Title : Let the Good Times Roll
Features: Danny Barker, Zachary Richard, Queen Ida & Others
Format : Video
Label : Island Visual Arts
Number :
Year : 1991
----------- Notes ------------
Some PBS television stations have broadcast this video.
Similar to the "New Orleans Live!" video from Island.
The Neville Brothers perform "Amazing Grace," "One Love,"
and "People Get Ready." 90 minutes.
Title : Posse
Features: Stephen Baldwin, Issac Hayes, Big Daddy Kane, Tone
Loc, Mario & Melvin Van Peebles.
Format : Video
Label : ?
Number : ?
Year : 1993
----------- Notes ------------
This is another one that got by me (I'm not a big movie fan).
Dug this one up from The Internet Movie Database, which lists
Mario Van Peebles as the director. Aaron plays a part listed
as "Railroad Singer."
Title : F.T.W.
Features: Peter Berg, Rodney A. Grant, Mickey Rourke
Format : Video
Label : ?
Number : ?
Year : 1994
----------- Notes ------------
Another from The Internet Movie Database Team, which indicates
that it was also known as "Last Ride." Aaron Neville is listed
as playing an "unknown" role. This was supposed to be a "drama,
romance, heist, rodeo." If they had thrown in some outer space
stuff they would have had everything covered.
Title : New Orleans Live! Roots-N-Rock
Features: Taj Mahal, Los Lobos, Marcia Ball & Others
Format : Video
Label : Island Visual Arts
Number :
Year : 1994?
----------- Notes ------------
This was originally shown on the A&E cable channel. The
performances are from Jazz Fest, where the Neville
Brothers perform "Brother Jake." Don't know if this
video is available commercially. 60 minutes.
Title : Jake Lassiter: Justice on the Bayou
Features: Gerald McRaney
Format : Video
Label : CBS?
Number : ?
Year : 1995
----------- Notes ------------
OK, this one I DID see. I taped the thing off TV,
hoping to catch some scenes of New Orleans. Aaron,
who I don't think was credited, appears sitting on a
a bench in the courthouse, and he hands a section of
the newspaper to McRaney.
Title : Montel Williams Show
Features: Aaron Neville, Roberta Flack
Format : Video
Label : Video Archives, Inc.
Number : July 7, 1995
Year : 1995
----------- Notes ------------
I found out about this one from someone who saw my
Nevilles Web Page. Aaron is the featured guest on
Montel's show, and sings about four songs accompanied
by a taped backing track. A little too long on smooze
(like Roberta Flack promoting her radio show), and short on
Aaron's experiences (although he does mention his mother
climbing the steps of New Orleans' St. Anne Grotto on her
knees). A copy of the show can be ordered through
Video Archives at 1-800-367-8433 (give them the name and date
of the show). The cost with shipping is just under $30.
