JavaScript.  VBScript.  ActiveX.  Data Areas.  SQL Server.  Oracle.  Microsoft Access.  ODBC.  Accessing databases from the Web involves a veritible alphabet soup of options, choices, and configurations.  While we at Yatcom are fluent in several of these options, our favorite way of getting data out of various files and engines is to use Cold Fusion, a product from Allaire Corporation.

The concept behind Cold Fusion is simple:  the webweaver issues Structured Query Language (SQL) statments to data soruces.  Those statements are passed to the data repository (Access, SQL Server, or some other database management system) via the Cold Fusion data engine running on the web server.  The response from the database is then passed back through the Cold Fusion engine, where it is displayed as a web page.

While Cold Fusion is a powerful tool that really isn't for the beginner, it is still an easy-to-use way to display dynamic data to web users.  We're pretty good at Cold Fusion here at Yatcom, and would love to have the opportunity to show you how we can make the program work for you.
